Sashi Wins, India Draws With Hungary

Ningbo [China]. Grandmaster Krishnan Sasikiran started the World Team Chess Championship on Sunday with a win. With this India has been able to draw with Hungary 2-2 in first round.Russia beat the U.S. 3-1.
Sasikiran defeated Almasi Jolton of Hungary. Before that, the board’s top player Peter Leko and P Harikrishna shared points while N. Gopal shared points with Balog Sabah. But Surya Sekhar Ganguly suffered defeat at the hands of the world’s best female player Judith Polgar . Armenia defeated Israel 3.5 to 0.5 in this PremierWorld Championships and took an early lead. The Israeli team has entered this tournament without their star player BorisAbramovich Gelfand, who will be challenging World Champion Vishwanathan Anand in the World Chess Championship to be held in Chennai in 2012.
