Top seed Gael Monfils recorded a pair of wins to go through to the quarter-finals of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington.
Monfils was one of five players made to play twice on Thursday to catch up after rain hit the day before to end play early.
And he was one of three of those five to make it to the quarter-finals regardless, beating Ryan Sweeting 6-3 7-6 (7-3) in his second-round match before going on to beat Dmitry Tursunov 6-2 (7-6 (11-9) in the third round.
Sixth seed Janko Tipsarevic saw off German Michael Berrer in the second round and then Grigor Dimitrov 6-4 6-2 in the third round.
Dimitrov had come through his second-round match earlier in the day when 10th seed Michael Llodra retired hurt while trailing 4-3 in the first set.
Marco Baghdatis had a tough day, but eventually booked a quarter-final berth after battling past both Somdev Devvarman 6-2 0-6 7-5 and 12th seed Thomaz Bellucci 3-6 6-3 6-2.
Bellucci had earlier won his second-round match 7-6 (7-3) 3-6 6-3 over Tommy Haas.
In the other third-round matches, third seed Viktor Troicki beat South African Kevin Anderson, seeded 13th, 6-3 6-3 while John Isner, seeded 11th, ended James Blake's tournament 7-6 (7-0) 1-6 7-6 (7-4).
Fifth seed Fernando Verdasco topped Nikolay Davydenko, number nine, 6-4 7-5m while Radek Stepanek dispatched 16th seed Jarkko Nieminen 6-4 3-6 6-2.
Donald Young overcame Michael Russell 6-3 6-3.
